Travelling to India & Goa

Do I need a visa to travel to India?

Yes, most foreign nationals need a visa to enter India. Citizens of many countries, including the USA, UK, Australia, and most of Europe, can apply for an e-Visa online through the official Indian government portal before travelling. We recommend applying at least two to four weeks before your arrival date.

The nearest airport is Goa International Airport (also known as Manohar International Airport) in North Goa. From there, Arambol is approximately a 1 to 1.5 hour drive depending on traffic. The Dabolim International Airport is around 1.5 to 2 hours from Arambol. You can book a pre-paid taxi at the airport or arrange a private transfer. We provide booking support to help you sort your airport transfer before you arrive.

Goa is one of India’s most visited states and is considered very safe for solo travellers, including women. Arambol in particular is a well-established bohemian beach town with a large international community of travellers and long-term visitors. Our school is located in a conscious, community-oriented environment, and our students often arrive solo and leave with lifelong connections.

The yoga season in Goa runs from October through April, which aligns perfectly with our TTC batches (November 2026 to March 2027). During these months, the weather is warm and dry, with temperatures ranging from 25 to 32 degrees Celsius. We strongly recommend avoiding the monsoon months (June to September) as many businesses close during that period.

Yoga in Goa

Is Goa a popular destination for yoga?

Goa has been a hub for international yogis for decades, attracting teachers and students from across the world. The combination of a warm and tropical climate, vibrant spiritual community, affordable cost of living, and natural surroundings makes it an ideal place to deepen a yoga practice. North Goa in particular, where Arambol is located, has a long-established alternative and conscious-living scene.

Absolutely yes. Many of our students arrive with little to no prior yoga experience and leave with a strong foundation and a recognised certification. The pace of life in Arambol is slow and supportive, and our training is designed to meet students wherever they are on their journey.

About Sohum Yoga School

What is Sohum Yoga School?

Sohum Yoga School is a Yoga Alliance-certified (RYS 200) teacher training school based in Arambol, Goa, India. We are a modern, largely women-led school that blends traditional Hatha Yoga with Somatic Movement and breathwork. We offer 21-day immersive teacher training programs, drop-in classes, retreats, and a coming-soon 50hr Sound Healing TTC.

Yes. We are a registered Yoga School (RYS 200) with Yoga Alliance, which means our 200hr Teacher Training meets the internationally recognised standards set by the world’s largest nonprofit association representing the yoga community. Upon completing the course, you can register as a Yoga Alliance-certified teacher (RYT 200).

We are based at Dragonfly, a lush hilltop venue located next to Ganpat Parsekar College in Arambol, North Goa. It is approximately a 5-minute drive from the centre of Arambol and sits surrounded by nature, with a yoga shala, pool, garden, and on-site cafe.

We keep our batches small intentionally. Each cohort has a maximum of 14 students, which allows for close mentorship, personalised feedback, and a genuine sense of community. This is one of the key reasons students choose us over larger schools.

Our faculty is an international collective of teachers who bring backgrounds ranging from dance and somatics to anatomy and philosophy. They share a warm, non-judgemental approach and a deep investment in each student’s growth. We have both full-time faculty for consistency and visiting teachers who bring fresh global perspectives throughout the course.

200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training

What is included in the 200hr Yoga Teacher Training at Sohum?

The program includes 21 days of immersive training covering Asana, Pranayama, Meditation, Anatomy and Physiology, Teaching Methodology, Yoga Philosophy, and Somatic Movement. Also included are daily meals (breakfast, fresh juice, lunch, afternoon chai, and dinner), all yoga props, a personal training manual, a goodie bag, weekly excursions and workshops, and your Yoga Alliance certification exam and certification upon completion. Accommodation is included when you choose a dorm or private room package.

Our 200hr TTC is a 21-day immersive program with 18 active learning days, 2 days off, and 3 half-day beach sessions built in. It is not a weekend or part-time course. The full-time format means you make faster progress and graduate with a solid, embodied foundation rather than fragmented learning spread over months.

No prior experience is required. Our program is designed to welcome complete beginners as well as experienced practitioners. What matters most is your commitment and openness to learning. If you are already a practising yoga teacher, our emphasis on Somatic Movement offers a genuinely different lens that complements any existing training.
The course fee including accommodation is 1,350 EUR for a dorm bed or 2,000 EUR for a private room. A deposit of 300 EUR (or 30,000 INR) is required to secure your place, with the final payment due four weeks before the course starts.

We currently have five batches open for enrolment:
– 2 November to 22 November 2026
– 30 November to 20 December 2026
– 4 January to 24 January 2027
– 1 February to 21 February 2027
– 1 March to 21 March 2027

Each batch has a maximum of 14 spots. Contact us via WhatsApp to check current availability.

A typical training day begins at 7:00 AM with Shatkarma, Pranayama, and Asana practice, followed by breakfast and journaling. The morning continues with Yoga Philosophy and an alignment class. After a lunch break for rest and self-study, the afternoon covers Anatomy or workshop sessions, and the evening includes Asana, Kirtan, or workshops. The day closes with Meditation or Yoga Nidra by 8:30 PM.

It is both. We are rooted in classical Hatha Yoga and its philosophical traditions, but we teach it through a modern, embodied lens. Our unique blend of Hatha and Somatic Movement means you are not just learning postures; you are understanding how the body moves, how trauma holds itself in the body, and how to create safe, inclusive spaces for all kinds of students.

Somatics refers to practices that develop awareness of the body from the inside out. Rather than focusing purely on external alignment, somatic yoga invites students to feel and sense their movement rather than perform it. We include this because it helps students develop a more intuitive, trauma-informed, and therapeutic approach to teaching, which is increasingly valued in the modern yoga world.

The following are not included: international flights, airport transfers (though booking support is provided), travel insurance, visa costs, and meals on Saturday nights, Sundays, the day of arrival, and the day of departure. We have an on-site cafe for those meals.

You can apply by reaching out to us directly on WhatsApp at +91 90351 61122 or by emailing sohumyoga.goa@gmail.com. A deposit of 300 EUR secures your place. We recommend applying early as batches fill up quickly.

Yes, of course. If you already have your own accommodation or prefer to stay elsewhere, you are still welcome to join the full TTC program.

Non-accommodation pricing:

* €1,200 – Training + meals included
* €1,110 – Training only (without meals)

Sound Healing TTC

What is the Sound Healing TTC at Sohum?

We are going to introduce a 50hr Sound Healing Teacher Training, a 7-day immersive program designed to introduce you to the practice and teaching of sound healing. It covers the use of instruments like singing bowls, the voice, and other tools for therapeutic and ceremonial sound work.

The Sound Healing TTC is for anyone curious about the therapeutic power of sound, whether you are a yoga teacher looking to add a complementary modality, a wellness professional, or simply someone drawn to sound as a healing practice. No prior experience in sound healing or music is required.

The Sound Healing TTC is going to be introduced soon. To be the first to know when the dates are announced, contact us via WhatsApp or subscribe to our newsletter at sohumyogaschool.com.

Schedule and Drop-in Classes

Can I attend Sohum classes without enrolling in a full TTC?

Yes. We offer daily drop-in classes at Dragonfly Yoga Shala in Arambol that are open to all levels. You do not need to be enrolled in a training program to attend.

Morning Rituals (Dynamic Hatha enriched with Somatic Movement) are offered daily and cost 500 INR per class. Evening Rituals (Restorative and Yin practice) cost 700 INR per class. If you plan to attend regularly, the 10-Class Pass offers the best value at 4,000 INR total (400 INR per class).

Drop-in classes are available daily from October 2026 through April 2027, running Monday through Sunday. The schedule aligns with Goa’s peak yoga and tourist season.

Accommodation

Is accommodation included in the TTC fee?

Yes. All TTC packages include accommodation at Dragonfly, the school’s home venue. You can choose between a dorm bed (included in the 1,350 EUR package) or a private room (included in the 2,000 EUR package).

We offer 3 options: a female dorm, a male dorm, and private rooms. Dorm rooms include a single bed, shared bathroom with hot water, Wi-Fi, AC, access to the pool, and the on-site cafe. Private rooms include a double bed (or twin-sharing upon request), private bathroom, hot water, Wi-Fi, AC, pool access, and cafe access.

The accommodation is at Dragonfly, a hilltop venue surrounded by nature, approximately 5 minutes from the centre of Arambol. It has a large garden, a swimming pool, a yoga shala, and the Garden of Dreams cafe on-site. The setting is designed for both focus and ease, with a slow, conscious community atmosphere.

Dragonfly is the home of Sohum Yoga School and primarily caters to our training students. For accommodation queries outside of the TTC, please contact us directly to check availability.

Certification and Career

What certification will I receive after completing the 200hr TTC?

Upon passing your final exam, you will receive a 200hr Yoga Teacher Training certificate from Sohum Yoga School, which is a Yoga Alliance-accredited program (RYS 200). This allows you to register with Yoga Alliance as an RYT 200, a globally recognised credential that qualifies you to teach yoga professionally worldwide.

Yes. A 200hr certification is the standard entry-level qualification for professional yoga teaching. It qualifies you to teach group classes, private sessions, workshops, and retreats. Many of our graduates go on to teach at studios, retreats, and online platforms. Our curriculum also includes a dedicated “Yoga as a Business” module covering how to build a sustainable yoga career.

Yes. All graduates receive access to our alumni mentorship program, which provides ongoing support as you begin your teaching journey. You also remain part of our WhatsApp community with fellow students and faculty.

A Yoga Alliance RYT 200 certification is recognised internationally and accepted by yoga studios, gyms, and wellness centres in most countries. It is the most widely held standard in the global yoga industry.
